Axis Mundi Submissions & Publication GuideThe Axis Mundi online magazine is produced on a monthly basis and provides topical information to keep you up to date on news and developments in the Australian Pagan community. Subscribers are notified by email each month when a new edition is ready. In addition to our usual announcements on upcoming activities and events, the Axis Mundi contains articles and information that correspond to a seasonal theme and highlight the rhythms and cycles of the natural world and our lives. Your suggestions, comments and contributions are strongly encouraged. It is through your active participation that this online magazine will grow and develop into a publication that will empower you on your journey through all realms of possibilities personal, spiritual, and magical. SubmissionsSubmissions to the Axis Mundi are open to all pagans and pagan organisations; let us showcase your work or advertise your events (either help to sponsor our online magazine by paying for an ad - details here - or take advantage of our free event listing called "Pagan & Community Events". Submit your articles, poetry, book reviews, essays and opinions, hints and tips, information pieces and artwork. All contributors whose work is included in the Axis Mundi receive full credit, and are linked to their website if desired. There are 12 calendar months, 8 sabbats and 4 seasons, so for those who wish to submit articles with a seasonal theme (eg. information about various herbs, aromatherapy oils, recipes, gods and goddesses, seasonal correspondences in general etc) the information in the table below has been provided as a guide to help you decide which topics would be appropriate for the different editions of the Axis Mundi.
The [bracketed sabbats] shown for some months indicate that topics relating to these sabbats will be accepted but would possibly have been better suited to the previous month's issue. Please remember this a guide only and is not set in stone. Preferred FormatThe preferred format for submissions is a plain text file (.txt) eg. use Notepad. Notes (which will be deleted later) can be added within the text to indicate positions of images if necessary. Or you may submit your work on a Word document (.doc or .docx) If you use an Apple Mac computer a Pages file (.pages) is also acceptable as the Axis Mundi is produced on a Mac. Articles submitted as an email message are also acceptable, providing that it is an original email and the text wraps properly and is not broken up by >> symbols all down the left margin, as often happens after an email has been replied to and sent back and forth. Please do not put the main text of your article inside a table as the information can only be copied and pasted one cell at a time, making it difficult and time consuming to transfer the information to the Axis Mundi. Instead, please use headings and paragraphs to divide different sections where possible. ImagesRegardless of which format you have chosen, all images must be sent as attachments, even if they have been included on the page with the text. Bibliographies or Reference ListsPlease make sure each article you submit includes a list of all websites, online magazines and books used, if it is not completely your own, original work. Each book reference must clearly show the full title, the author and the year of publication. Magazines must show the title of the article, the author, the name of the magazine, the issue or number, and the year of publication. Start a new line for each separate book, and please be consistent with the way the info is presented (either title or author first but use the same order for every book in your list). It doesn't have to be too involved - just enough information that if anybody wants to check your references they are able to find the same info you used. For example, the minimum info required for books and online magazines... Title of Book, by Fred Blogs, 2009 If you run the references together, separated only by commas it is often extremely difficult to tell which author goes with which book, which could result in the reference list being incorrect, so please keep them on separate lines. References to websites should contain the complete url (website address) and also be listed on separate lines. For example... http://spheresoflight.com.au/index.php?page=use_crystal
